For the Exige Roadster version, in order to maintain unchanged the exceptional aerodynamic analysis of the coupé and make it possible to use the Exige in an enjoyable open air way, it was enough to remove the front splitter and rear spoiler, thus ensuring the functionality of the flat undercarriage and diffuser, whilst electronically limiting the maximum speed in favour of driving in the open air and clean, elegant lines.
The suspension has been developed, in the way that characterises Lotus, with the greatest attention to ensuring immediate responses, maximum road holding and great handling. The engine, which uses technology developed in competition, is a supercharged 3.5 V6, ensuring the highest level of performance: The Exige S Roadster reaches 100 km/h from standing in 4 seconds and 160 km/h in 8.5 seconds.
The car is available with two different suspension tunings: a normal tuning for brilliant road driving and a special one for those who want to drive the car on a track, available with the Race Pack. In Race Mode the Launch Control function can be activated. The interiors are an example of minimalist styling and functionality. Customers can choose between a more comfortable interior option and a leaner sport option.
When we designed the Exige S we thought about how to optimise the power to weight ratio. The Exige Roadster's roof is at the same time clever and free from anything superfluous. It is designed for travelling at high speeds without a reduction in comfort. It folds into the convenient bag that takes little space from the luggage, reducing its bulk by up to 400% compared with a conventional soft top.
