For the new Exige, Lotus engineers have modified, adapted and optimised the characteristics of the 3.5 litre dual variable valve timing with intelligence (VVTi) engine, reaching 350 hp and 400 Nm at 4500 rpm by using a modern new concept Harrop HTV1320 positive displacement supercharger system with Eaton TVSTM technology.

Compressor technology, unlike other types of supercharging, makes greater power and torque available even at a low RPM without the turbo lag of turbo engines. Its performance increases considerably thanks to an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in under 4 seconds and maximum speed of 280 km/h. The Lotus T6e engine management software and skilled work on aspiration and exhaust have made it possible to achieve exceptional figures for acceleration and maximum speed. The calibration performed by Lotus engineers makes the lightweight FE-2GR powerplant respond quickly to the accelerator and gives it immediate torque without needing to reach a high RPM.

The sports exhaust of the Evora S has a single oval exhaust terminal. The inside has a ceramic coating to withstand the highest temperatures. Great attention has been paid to the acoustics of the new six cylinders characterised by a deep and thrilling exhaust note. The acoustic varies further above 4,000 RPM or at the simple flick of a switch in the cockpit. The internal section uses two flow paths for exhaust gas: the first is built with a multi chamber that reduces noise. The second, with an increased section, is used by opening an EP valve. When the valve is opened electro-pneumatically the sound of the exhaust becomes sportier and more full-bodied and increases the responsiveness of the engine. In this way driving becomes more emotional and dynamic for use on the track.
